Ho passato 25 anni
a chiedermi cosa voglia dire,

I've spent 25 years
asking what it really means
to be a boss.
An executive and board member by trade. Recently — a little late, and with no claim to being a role model — I decided to write down what I've seen.
Chi sonoAbout
Me lo chiedo spesso.I ask myself that often.
For 25 years I've worked for large multinationals. I started at the bottom and, through many roles in different organisations, became an executive and a board member.
Then, not exactly in this order, I turned fifty, got married (the best party of my life), decided to change jobs, went on a diet and started cycling.
Today I live between Trieste, Milan and Vienna. I've “come home”, and I'm lucky to work in an international environment that's stimulating and alive. I'm happy. And I consider myself a better person.
I decided to tell what I've seen. Because I've had the luck to visit incredible places and meet special people. I've ruined a few friendships and built new ones. Done good things and seen ugly ones. At bottom, perhaps, I didn't learn as much as I should have.
I've always wondered how to be a good manager, a good boss. What it really means to be a Leader. I've read a lot, but above all I watched and took notes. I don't think I was ever a role model. But I worked to make the people around me feel good, to grow those who deserved it, and to get done the things that were right to do.
Life would be easier with a bit more goodwill and a pinch of humility. And if people smiled more.

A selection — from the many on my nightstand — that I recommend most. Not necessarily the bestsellers: the ones that, every now and then, changed my mind.
